Version 2.0.0 Released!

When this application was first conceived, there were many things that it had in it's favour. It was able to quickly read back unread messages on any device. It could filter by labels, slice toast and provided a great user experience.

Then Gmail 2.3.5 was released ... Third party apps could no longer read from the internal Gmail data cache. Talking Gmail Reader had to now download messages, on it's own, users wanted to have read out. On high speed networks, this is not a problem. On normal cell phone data connections, it is a huge issue.

This release signals a complete change in how Talking Gmail reader works. We completely rewrote the backend engine and simplified the codebase. Our goals were to improve user experience, to speed up the app and to be able to add new features quickly and painlessly.

When you open the app for the first time after upgrading, you will notice that there is section in the app for you to select a synchronization frequency. The default is 30 minutes, but you can increase or decrease it to as little as 5 minutes or as much as 24 hours. Once the app synchronizes your messages, playing them will be quick and painless! Within a few seconds, you should start hearing your messages read out to you.

If you are satisfied with our apps, we would greatly appreciate a 5 star review on the Play store and a little comment from you on what you like about the app. If you are not 100% satisfied, please contact us and tell us why. We do strive for your 100% satisfaction and will try to correct any issues you encounter.

If you have suggestions on ways to improve this app, we would love to hear them. Feature / enhancement requests are greatly appreciated and are not taken lightly! We understand that new features improve the application, and that makes it better for everyone. Thanks for your support.
